Tunic Dress

Hey there! I know I didn't post at all this weekend :(. Saturday I was busy with friends all day, and I had such a fun time! We went Uptown (it's what we call the town center in Oxford) during the day. Then I went on a double date with my boyfriend, Ryan, one of Ryan's best friends, and his girlfriend. We went to this really good Italian restaurant called Paesano's. Mmm I have missed some good pasta! Then we went to the Miami hockey game and ice skating after. I managed to do a graceful face plant and end up with some lovely bruises on my knees haha. Nice one Jess. And Sunday was a day for catching up on homework. So that part of the day was really boring for a few hours. Then we had a really funny sisterhood event with my sorority. We had mini competitions between 5 teams. And just to give you a taste of some of the events, there was a burping contest, who had the longest thumb, a dancing contest, and the tie breaker was a sing-a-long haha. The sing-a-long was probably the funniest one. We did Love is an Open Door from Frozen, and the other team did My Heart Will Go On from the Titanic. I made a total fool out of myself, but we all laughed and had so much fun haha. It was actually a pretty good weekend off from the blog :). Tomorrow I get to go home for Thanksgiving break! Ahhh!!! I'm soo excited! I get to see my dogs, my family, eat good food, and go shopping. And also, I don't have to go to any classes! Wooo so much exciting things!

Comfy, Casual, and Cute Outfit

Hello everyone! Today has been super nice and sunny :). And I got to take advantage of the weather for some quick pictures! Also, I didn't even have to use my tripod because I manage to convince my boyfriend to take the pictures for me since we were both super bored haha. I am so ready for a break from school and homework. It just really drains me and does not contribute to my creativity. Although today I've been browsing some of the stores online in preparation for my Christmas/birthday list (yes I'm born on Christmas), and I really cannot wait to update my wardrobe! All of my fall and winter cloths are from last year :/. I know that sounds really materialistic, but I love shopping. And it has been way too long haha.

Here is today's outfit. It's comfy, casual, and cute so perfect for class or walking around Uptown Oxford. I love it when clothes are cute and comfy. It really makes getting ready in morning soo much better, especially on those days when you would rather stay in your PJs haha.

Sunglasses from RayBan, vest from Ann Taylor (old), flannel from Abercrombie & Fitch (old), leggings from Lululemon, and boots from Francesca'sCollection.

Blanket Scarf

Hey! Today was a pretty good day off from classes. I finished my sociology homework, got a good workout in, and took these pictures. After this I'll start on my research paper for microbiology. I was hoping to be able to start it earlier, but my sociology work took me four hours to complete :/. But it's still early enough so I think I should be able to get it done. It was a really beautiful day outside, and I was kind of upset I missed it because of homework. The sun was shining, and it wasn't too cold out. That's one of the things that sucks about having a harder major that requires more time commitment to studies. Sometimes you have to miss out on some things like enjoying a beautiful day or hanging out with friends. But one of my family friends who is a doctor said that being a pre-med science major is a lot of work in your twenties, but it pays off after. I'm still waiting for that pay off haha but I'm sure it'll worth it then :).

I cannot wait to go shopping when I'm home for break! I'm running out of outfits to show you :'(. Blogger problems haha.

Messy Bun

Hey! So today I am rocking the messy bun. It's super rainy and wet outside, so it definitely prevents the inevitable bad hair day haha. And also, I'm just really lazy sometimes :D. I can't wait until all my classes are over today so I can curl up in a blanket with a cup of tea. Wednesday's are definitely my longest days of the week :/. They don't call it hump day for nothing haha. Although, tomorrow my only class got canceled, and I'm so excited to have no obligations so I can take some 'me' time! Face mask here I come! Haha. And then of course I need to get started on a research project that is due next week. Ugh it'll be soo nice to get that out of the way :). I love the feeling of getting something done that has been hanging over your head for awhile. Sorry this was a little all over the place, but that's how my brain is right now haha.

Adidas Superstars

Heyyy! Today is a pretty gray day. The sky is gray, I have chemistry lab, and I didn't even get selected for an interview for a Panhellenic Executive Board position I applied for (Panhellenic is the counsel that governs most of the sororities on Miami's campus and most other universities with Greek life have them too). The last one is probably the one I'm probably the most upset about. I know I'm only a sophomore who doesn't have a lot of leadership experience within my sorority, but I was soo proud of the application I turned in. I thought I had great ideas, and that it was really well written. I thought they might've at least wanted to interview me, even if I didn't get the position. So I was pretty bummed about that. Oh well, I guess there's always next year. I'm usually pretty optimistic on the blog because I don't want to get too personal, but sometimes it's just nice to be real when things aren't going the way you thought/wanted :/.

On the other hand, here is some super easy/basic outfit inspiration. Just light wash, distressed, denim skinny jeans, a white t-shirt, and my favorite shoes, my Adidas Superstars. I'm sure you all are sick of hearing me talk about these shoes, but they are just soo amazing! Much love for these shoes haha. I hope your Tuesday is going better than mine :).

Going Vegan

Hello readers! Today I'm going to talk to you about my decision to go vegan. I recently came across veganism on Essena O'Neil's website http://www.letsbegamechangers.com. I seriously recommend you check it out because she has some really cool and interesting ideas and videos that are there. I didn't follow her before she decided to quit social media so I don't know her from that, but the website she has created is phenomenal! While browsing through Let's be Game Changers, I discovered her section on veganism and watched some of the lecture/documentary videos on there. They were really informative and made veganism feel approachable. Also, I'm not going to lie, I sat there crying while watching some of the clips from slaughterhouses and such. It really was...life changing...I don't want to make it seem over the top, but I guess my lifestyle has changed. I'm still making the transition because becoming vegan is a lot about reading food labels carefully. As a vegan, you don't eat any animal products. So that means no meat, no dairy or cheese, and no eggs. The hardest one to watch out for is definitely the dairy because it's not always easy to find in the food labels. And I will definitely have to get better at ordering when I go out. But it's a process :). So I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite new snacks/foods that I have discovered.

The soy milk and peanut/almond butter were the easiest because I was already drinking/eating them! I love soy milk. I honestly think it tastes way better than regular milk. And I'm pretty sure most of you love peanut butter. Yummm :)

Trying this yogurt alternative was a bit scary for me because before I religiously ate greek yogurt for breakfast almost every day. But I find that Silk's soy yogurt alternative is really just as good as regular yogurt. I honestly can't even tell the difference, so thank you Silk! Haha

These vegan bars I discovered last week while watching one of the lectures on veganism, and I was sooo excited when I found out that the campus market carried them! I was super hungry after a workout one night, so I got one of the 'Meal' bars (the one in orange). It looks like birdseed and sort of tastes like birdseed and berries, but I find it so filling! Also, I don't really mind the taste if birdseed because I love nuts haha.

Today I decided to try dates. And I'm going to be honest, when I pulled them out of the package they were sort of slimy and did not look appetizing at all. But I tried one anyway, and oh my gosh it was so sweet! I'm so glad I did not judge these by their cover because they really are good!

And then of course, I've been eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies with carbs like brown rice and bread. And also french fries :) haha. I also find that my digestive tract feels way better without the animal products. So I encourage you to check out Essena's website linked above and have a look around. There are a lot of great ideas there!

Little Black Dress

Good morning everyone! I finally have some pictures of my semi-formal dress! It is really hard to see the details on it because it is black, but I promise it was just a super simple body-con black dress. Today is going to be a relaxing Sunday. Well relatively... I still have to do homework, but it's not anything very intensive like studying for an exam, thank God. This week is an exam and project free week, and I could not be happier about it haha. Having several exams in a row really manages to take it's toll on you. Well, Ryan and I are about to go for breakfast, after I write this post and get ready. So I'm going to make this a quick update. Have a relaxing Sunday!!
